Daily Word - Servants

5/31/2025

There is a classic song by Bob Dylan titled "Gotta Serve Somebody" ...
which goes on in the chorus line to say ..."Well, it may be the devil or
it may be the Lord ... But you’re going to have to serve somebody"

Many loved this song ... as this epiphany of truth ... made it clear to
all who listened to this song ... that there is no middle ground ... no
walking a thin fine line in life ... we are either God's and a servant
to Him and His righteousness ... or a servant of sin and death ...
obeying the devil ... even if we don't realize it .  But that the choice
is ours ... yet a choice that will inevitably have to be made.

Romans 6: 16
Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of
obedience to righteousness?

Romans 6: 17-18
But God be thanked, that you were the servants of sin, but you have
obeyed from the heart ... Being then made free from sin, you became the
servants of righteousness

Daily Word - A Fire

5/30/2025

Daily Word - A Fire

From a very young age we are taught to ignore the bad things people say
to us ... and so the nursery rhyme goes .. "Sticks and stones may break
my bones, but words will never hurt me" ... only if that were so.  As we
realize that some words, especially ones from the people we love the
most ... have the power to build us up ... or tear us down to despair.
Such power from a very small part in our body.

There is a wise saying ... "If you have nothing nice to say, don;t say
anything at all" ... which is one tiny piece of advice to take control
of our unruly tongues ... and not allow it to spiral us down a path of
iniquity ... and open the doors to the fires of hell.

But by the grace of God ... and only by the precious blood of Christ ...
let our mouths speak words of life ... blessings ... and truth ... that
can come from our heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus.

James 3: 5-6
The tongue is a little member, and boasts great things.  Behold, how
great a matter a little fire kindles ... the tongue is a fire, a world
of iniquity ... that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the
course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell

James 3: 17-18
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without
partiality, and without hypocrisy.  And the fruit of righteousness is
sown in peace of them that make peace

Daily Word - Remember

5/29/2025

Daily Word - Remember

Our memories can be like a two-edged sword ... a powerful weapon used
against us by the enemy as well as the blade that can cut through the
lies and deception ... and let truth prevail.

The memories conjured up by our enemy ... our past failures ... our
memories of hurt ... our sins we're guilty of ... these are all meant to
destroy our hope in God's grace and mercy towards us.  But in Christ ...
we have been given the power to resist the enemy ... and to recall every
promise God has kept ... every example of grace He has given us ... all
that He has provided ... and above all else, our inheritance and sonship
through the precious blood of Christ that was shed for us.

Lamentations 3: 19-23
Remembering my affliction and my misery ... My soul has them still in
remembrance, and is humbled in me.  This I recall to my mind, therefore
have I hope.  It is of the LORD's mercies ... because his compassions
fail not.  They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness

1 Thessalonians 1: 3
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our
Father;

Daily Word - At the King's Table

Daily Word - At the King's Table

There is a story of grace in the book of 2 Samuel.  Jonathan, the son of
King Saul, had a son who was crippled, and after Jonathan's death in
battle ... King David gave him back all his father's lands ... his
family's wealth ... servants ... and what had been lost in battle ...
for the sake of Jonathan.  And most importantly ... he was given a place
at the King's table as one of the King's sons.

Our inheritance ... our place at the King's table ... is only through
the grace and mercy bestowed upon us by the love of Christ. That we may
have an eternal place at God's table ... not because of what we have
done ... or what we have paid ... but simply because of who we are in
our adoption by the precious blood of Christ.

2 Samuel 9: 7
And David said to him, Fear not: for I will surely show you kindness for
Jonathan your father's sake, and will restore you all the land ... and
you shall eat bread at my table continually

2 Samuel 9: 11
According to all that my lord the king has commanded ... he shall eat at
my table, as one of the king's sons

Luke 22: 29-30
And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed to me ...
That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom

The Blessing

5/28/2025

The blessing that Moses spoke to all the children of God as the Lord
commanded him to …

“The Lord bless you …”
All your blessings … everything you have … everything before you … and
everything to come … is by God’s wondrous and gracious hand.

“And keep you …”
God promises to never leave you or forsake you.

“The Lord make His face shine upon you …”
You were created for God’s pleasure … in all you do … in who you are …
and all that He intends for your life … He smiles upon you each day.

“And be gracious to you …”
There is no greater grace to be received than what Christ has already
given you … salvation … redemption … and adoption as a child of God.

“The Lord lift up His countenance upon you …”
As you live for God, through Jesus Christ … He lives in you … and His
countenance becomes yours … as you are one with Him.

“And give you peace …”
As God directs your path … gives you wisdom with each choice you make
… strengthens you during the hardest times … He will give you peace
above all else … knowing that you are a precious child of God … forever.

Numbers 6:24-26

Daily Word - Our Cares

5/26/2025

Daily Word - Our Cares

It is absolutely essential that we lay down all our cares, first and
foremost, to God.  It doesn't matter how good or honorable our concerns
may be ... by taking them into our own hands, it unlocks the door for
the enemy to come in and whisper his cunning lies ... and as the
deception grows ... he shouts and screams for death and destruction ...
all in the name of his fraudulent justice.

But if we will trust God with all our cares ... lift them up in our
prayers and supplication ... He will supply us with His wisdom ... He
will guide us and direct our paths ... and we will see His wondrous
power ... His never ending mercy and grace ... fall upon every care and
concern that we lay at His feet.

Psalm 55: 22
Cast your burden on the LORD, and he shall sustain you

Mark 4: 19
The cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts
of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Philippians 4: 6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God

1 Peter 5: 7
Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you.

Daily Word - Forsaken

5/25/2025

Daily Word - Forsaken

There are times that we feel forsaken ... abandoned by all ... and
especially by God.  Yet, we are not forsaken ... rather we are guilty of
forsaking ourselves ... forsaking God ... forsaking our loved ones ...
forsaking God's blessings ... for the lies of the enemy.

But God's promises are true ... that He will never forsake us. When we
pray/ask that God not forsake us ... it is not to remind God ... but to
remind ourselves of His promise ... to remind us of His faithfulness ...
and to rebuke the enemy who says that God doesn't care ... that God
isn't there ... and above all … we don't even deserve God's grace and
mercy.

We are not forsaken ... let us pray that we do not forsake all that God
has given us ... and rest assured on all the promises of God.

Psalm 37: 25
For the LORD loves judgment, and forsakes not his saints; they are
preserved for ever

Psalm 38: 28
Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but
not in despair ... Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not
destroyed;

Daily Word - Blood of the Lamb

5/24/2025

Daily Word - Blood of the Lamb

Our greatest weapon when we're facing spiritual battles ... as well as
physical ones ... is the power that is given us through the blood of
Jesus Christ.  It is our only redemption ... the ultimate price that was
paid by Christ.  It is our only salvation ... reconciled to God as sons
and daughters.  It is our only justification ... Christ stands as our
advocate before our accuser, Satan.  It is our sanctification ... the
power of the blood to cleanse us of all our sin.  And our only strength
and shield in every attack of the enemy.  Yet ... we often enter the
battlefield armed with nothing but our own minds ... our own strength
... and with our own righteousness ... and we lose.

Let us cover ourselves completely with the precious blood of the lamb
... and the power of Christ's blood which was shed it for us all ...
forever and ever.  Amen

1 Peter 1: 19
You were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold ...
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and
without spot.

Revelation 12: 9-11
Satan ... the accuser of our brothers is cast down, which accused them
before our God day and night.  And they overcame him by the blood of the
Lamb, and by the word of their testimony

Daily Word - Perfect

5/23/2025

Daily Word - Perfect

The thing about faith is that it often goes against everything in
ourselves ... that is ... in our flesh.  Our minds can't help but think
about the troubles we face ... and begin to contrive our own plans of
escape.  But in these times, it is faith that allows us to reject what
we see before our eyes ... what we hear with our ears ... and trust that
God's ways are higher than ours ... His thoughts are precious towards us
... and His ways are perfect .... and He will perfect all that concerns us.

Isaiah 55: 9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than
your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalms 139:17
How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum
of them

Psalm 138: 7-8
Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me ... and your
right hand shall save me.  The LORD will perfect that which concerns me:
your mercy, O LORD, endures for ever: forsake not the works of your own
hands

Daily Word - Tender Mercies

5/23/2025

Daily Word - Tender Mercies

We all have ... and we all will ... fall into sin and transgress against
God.  We are born into sin and have inherited this from the minute we
were born ... but the "sin we fall into"  ... our transgressions ... is
by our own choice of disobedience ... allowing the love for our own
desires to outweigh our love for God.

When David sinned greatly against God in his desire for Bathsheba ... he
was rebuked by the prophet Nathan ... and repented immediately ... and
in his earnest cry to God's forgiveness ... wrote Psalm 51 as a record
of his repentance and for us to remember when we sin ... fall to our own
desires ... to reach out for God's tender mercies.  Here are a few
verses from David's Psalm ... but we should read this Psalm in its
entirety each day ... and every time we transgress against our heavenly
Father ... and Christ our Lord.

Psalm 51: 1-5
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your loving kindness: according to
the multitude of your tender mercies ... Wash me thoroughly from my
iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.  For I acknowledge my
transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only,
have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight ... Behold, I was shaped
in iniquity

Psalm 51: 7-12
Purge me ... wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow ... Hide your face
from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.  Create in me a clean
heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  Cast me not away from
your presence; and take not your holy spirit from me. Restore to me the
joy of your salvation; and uphold me with your free spirit.

Psalm 51: 17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart
