Daily Word - Broken

BROKEN...

On Monday morning, I found that someone had deliberately smashed in the glass door in our office and a neighboring office.

But by God's grace nothing was stolen, just a big mess to clean up and a glass door to replace.

But as I was cleaning up the thousands of tiny pieces of glass, I was reminded of our often broken and shattered lives ...

...That but by the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, can be made new again.

Isaiah 61:3

"To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness..."

"CALL ON ME: I WILL DELIVER YOU"

For those of us who remember back in July of 1972, the number one song on Billboard's Pop and R&B charts was a song by Bill Withers, titled "Lean On Me".

In the last verse of his song he wrote, "If there is a load, you have to bear that you can't carry ... l"ll share your load if you just call me."

It is a wonderful thing to have a friend that you can always count on when our load is heavy and we cannot bear it alone.

Psalm 50:15

"And call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me."

Matthew 11:29

"Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls."

For many of us, it is a very frightening thought to have to be "the first" in any situation.

But we can rest assured that Christ has become the "first in line" for all of us as our advocate and high priest before God.

Hebrews 6:20

"Where the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever..."

Psalm 23:3

"He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness..."

Romans 2:4

"The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance..."

Daily Word - A Disappointing World

"THE EARTH SHALL WAX OLD LIKE A GARMENT..." (Is. 51:6)

To everyone who is disappointed in this world ... in all the things we see deteriorating ...

And that the allure of power, success and riches has lost its all its luster ...

We can thank the Lord for His mercy and grace in giving us the desire and hope for the things not of this world.

1 John 2:15-16

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

Isaiah 51:6

"Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished."

Daily Word - Immutable

'HE HATH PROMISED US...ETERNAL LIFE.' (1 John 2:25)

If there is a common theme in our world today it is "constant change". Every year, there's the newest model of cellular phones, computers, cars, clothing .... the list goes on and on.

Nothing stays the same for very long any more. Everything is instant, updated and disposable. It's no wonder that a word like "immutable" is not a very common word in our vocabulary today.

It's definition is "unchanging through time; unalterable and ageless". But this morning, I stand on two "immutable" facts ... God's promises to us and God never lies.

Hebrews 6:18

"That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us."

1 John 2:25

"And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life."
