Whenever we hear an account of an amazing event the first question we
usually have is ... "Were you there?" ... and credibility of the story
is ultimately reinforced by the words ... "I was there ... and I saw it
with my own eyes."
It's amazing to think that in the history of God's children ... that
Enoch, lived during Adam's lifetime ... and he "walked with God" until
he was taken up to heaven ... and that Noah knew Enoch's son Methuselah,
the oldest person in the bible who died just before the flood ... and
Abraham, who surely knew Noah, who died when Abraham was 58-years old
... and Joseph, the son of Jacob ... knew his grandfather Isaac ... and
his great-grandfather Abraham, who faithfully believed God's promise.
What an amazing legacy these patriarchs had ... who saw all the amazing
works of God in their lives ... as well as the lives of all their
forefathers.
We also have our claim to their great legacy ... through the Word, we
see the wondrous works of God ... through all of the saints that came
before us ... as witnesses to his grace and mercy. And through Christ
alone ... we have become co-heirs with him ... in His kingdom ... forever.
Hebrews 12: 1-2
Seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset
us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us ...
Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
