Daily Word - Continue in the Word

12/19/2014

Picture"CONTINUE IN MY WORD..." (John 8:31)
It's been difficult over the last couple of weeks to write and send out these devotions on a regular basis.

But I wanted to send this to exhort everyone to continue in the daily reading and study of The Word.

Will be back to it very soon!

Matthew 4:4

" ... Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God "

John 8:31

"
Then said Jesus to those...which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed."

Daily Word - One Mind

PictureBE NOT DOUBLE MINDED... (JAMES 1: 4 & 8)
It has become more and more difficult with today's "politically correct" world to voice your beliefs and convictions without  being accused of bigotry, racism or other crimes against society.

But there is one standard that we can trust and must cling to in these times of navigating the sea of political correctness ... God's word ... the Bible.

James 1:8

"A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

James 4:8

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."

Romans 1:16

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes."

Daily Word - Not Alone

12/5/2014

PictureGOD IS WITH YOU...
Sometimes as we're struggling through trials and problems in our lives, we feel like we're all alone facing insurmountable odds.

But God's word tells us differently, and encourages us to press on and that "the great cloud" of saints ... past, present and future ... have or will have faced the same struggles we're facing...

And that our Lord, Jesus Christ, who faced the greatest trial and suffering, is faithful to bring us through it all.

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 "Why seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us
...

2 Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Daily Word - Out of the Red and Into the Black...

12/2/2014

PictureHE WAS WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS
Black Friday is the name given to the shopping day after Thanksgiving. It was originally called Black Friday in 1966, because so many people went out to shop that it caused traffic accidents and sometimes even violence.

Now, retailers use the name to reflect their success. Accountants generally use black to signify profit when recording each day's book entries. Red is used to signify loss. Therefore, Black Friday means profitable Friday to retailing and to the economy.

Many shops and businesses rely on Christmas profits to bring them out of the red, and out of debt.  Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, and this is typically when they are back in the 'black' - and when debts are able to be paid.

Black Friday has become known once again for its violence and mob mentality.  In a previous post, the current Black Friday was compared to that very Black Friday long ago on Calvary.  On that terrible day, violence and mob mentality played a part as well.  Christ shed his own blood to buy our redemption.

He erased our tremendous debt of sin which we could never have paid on our own.  In fact, there is nothing we could do to even begin to make atonement.  Therefore Jesus paid our debt of sin for us on the cross and canceled the record of our debt, if we only believe.

2 Corinthians 5:21

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

1 John 1:7

"The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
"

Romans 4:25

"Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Colossians 2:13-14

"And you, being dead in your sins hath he...forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross."
