Christian Home Funerals

Home Funerals -

There are many important personal choices that we face in this life.  In previous posts, we have spoken of Salvation, as well as Insurance, as being among them.

The decision to place your trust in Christ is the very most crucial choice that you will ever make in your life.

Where you will end up in the afterlife is of the most absolute importance.  Leaving this life with that assurance is of great comfort - to yourself as well as your loved ones.

In the quest for leaving this world in a peaceful and comforting manner is also the choice in how we intend to prepare for our own funerary wishes.

Friends and family will be greatly comforted to know that you are being cared for in the way that you would have wished at the end of your life.

This includes arrangements for your funeral and interment, as well as all financial and property designations being in place.

No matter how much or how little you may have had in 'material' wealth in this world, these things will need to be dealt with at the time of death.

Having these decisions made beforehand is of great peace of mind to all involved in the grieving process.

Click title for the free e-book entitled: Undertaken With Love.  It details the process for a simple and personalized approach to funeral arrangements.

This publication also outlines the many different options for funeral and burial, as well as end-of-life care and legal matters.

Additionally, it has a wealth of information regarding Christian burial and serves as a home funeral guide for both Congregations and Communities.

A simplified and economical approach helps to bring matters back into the hands of those who most loved the person being cared for, which is how it should be.

Genesis 49:29  "And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite."

Alternative to Obamacare: 'Medi-Share'

Christian Family Insurance -

While, as Christians, we consider our Assurance of Salvation to be much more important than traditional insurance, we also have a need to protect ourselves and our families from unforeseen health needs - from accidents to illness.

An Alternative to Obamacare:   'Medi-Share'

Insurance is a very important and personal choice.  You should always explore all the options, to see which plan is right for you.

On this website, I have said that I only give information and review about products and services with which I am familiar.

That's the case here, also.  I can only talk about a health-care plan that we have used, and know something about.

On this page is information about an exemption that is included in the new health reform bill, the Affordable Care Act.

Medical bill-sharing plans, such as the Medi-Share plan mentioned below, are an option to purchasing a plan within the healthcare exchanges.

Medishare Members Exemption -

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA for short) was signed into law by President Obama in 2010. Designed to provide greater access to healthcare and to reduce its costs, the law requires all Americans to have health insurance by January 1, 2014--whether purchased individually, through an employer, or through a government program like Medicaid or Medicare.  Those who don't comply will pay a penalty

The new law contains a special provision for members of Healthcare Sharing Ministries, making Medi-Share members exempt from the mandate to purchase insurance by 2014 or face financial penalties. Law Language  - (Sec 1501, page 148 addresses the exemption)

With seven plans to choose from, you'll find flexible, convenient choices to fit virtually every Christian family.  Medi-Share members also pray for and send notes of encouragement to each other, supported by an organization that provides health education and promotes biblical living.

Healthcare Costs Expected To Rise - In a difficult economy and with private health insurance premiums expected to rise dramatically over the next several years, Christians everywhere are looking at their finances and wondering, "How am I going to be able to afford decent healthcare?"

Medi-Share is the answer.  Because members live healthy biblical lifestyles, costs are affordable--family options average less than $300 a month.  Since 1993, Medi-Share members have saved more than $750 Million in healthcare expenses through sharing and discounting. But best of all, Medi-Share offers a true community with a shared commitment."

A Prideful & Drunken America

12/29/2013

Picture
Here is a verse from Isaiah 28 ... as I read this, it just makes me think about the U.S. and it's current condition ... prideful ... drunkards ... glorious beauty fading ... fat valleys ... overcome with wine.

The rest of the chapter describes its downfall by the hand of the Lord ....

1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

Have a good and blessed day,

HE WON'T GET OFF THE 'PHONE!

12/28/2013

HE WON'T GET OFF THE 'PHONE!

The dinner, succulent, sits waiting,
A rib roast, tender at the bone,
But no one yet is celebrating,
In fact their nerves are slowly grating,
Because he won't get off the 'phone!

The grass beneath the hammock pushes,
The yard is badly over-grown
With debris and disheveled bushes,
As tow'ring as the Hindu Kush is
Because he won't get off the 'phone!

The child, the pup are sore neglected,
The wife feels she exists alone,
Their countenances so dejected,
From Father they are dis-connected,
Because he won't get off the 'phone!

Outside a silvery moon is shining,
Where late the golden sun has shone,
But inside there is only pining,
In circumstances too confining,
Because he won't get off the 'phone!

1 Timothy 5:8  "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

We are to provide more than just material and monetary goods for our families. We must also be sure to provide our family members with love and attention.

And, most of all, we need to be providing good Godly wisdom and instruction - by both word and example.

Much damage is done in ignoring our loved ones and our parental duties while pursuing idle (idol!) pleasure and distraction.

So...please, get off the phone!!  : )

In His Love,

Pastor Greg

A Dangerous New Web of Communication

A Dangerous New Web of Communication

by Mr. Owen Edwards

Writing at the early part of the last century, Owen Edwards penned these 'prophetic' words about the phone:

"A dangerous new universe of communications threatens to ensnare us, one so seductive and insidious that it must be recognized for what it is: a web!
A web which, once we are trapped within it, will do nothing less thatn change the boundaries of human decency, decorum and behavior!  Do nothing less than change the way we speak, think and, yes, act!
And what is the spider weaving this web, which mesmerizes and even enslaves its users?  The spider which has crept unchallenged into offices and homes?  The spider which, while promising extraordinary new avenues of discourse and delivery, has spun its web wider and wider and, yes world-wider?
It is Mr. Alexander Graham Bell's pernicious instrument, the telephone!

...Perhaps we should be grateful that these telephones are held in one place by their wires, lest those who have been ensnared by the illusion of incessant "communication" carry these devices everywhere, speaking to unseen listeners like madmen haunted by disembodied spirits.  If we solid Americans, guided by plain horse-sense, our traditional practicality and the unerring rules of good manners, rise up now against the spread of this insidious technology, such insanity will never engulf us."

The Duck Dynasty Controversy a Marketing Ploy

12/23/2013

Picture
PictureSex Sells! (And Controversy...)
"Walmart SELLS OUT of ‘Duck Dynasty’ merchandise in mass show of support"

Still Don't Think the Duck Dynasty Controversy was a Marketing Ploy?

And - just in time or Christmas!  Because STUFF and selling LOTS OF STUFF is what Christmas is all about, especially for Walmart.

I don't really enjoy being cynical, but it just seems that there is an awful lot of press about this story.

And, rightly so - if it was really only about defending our First Amendment rights and our Christian beliefs.

Seems to be a whole lot more about Filthy Lucre: for the Duck Dynasty Clan, Walmart, and even A&E (bad press is better than no press at all!).

We have heard that Sex Sells!  So does a good Controversy.  All of the above players know it, too.

Take a good look at the pictures posted here of the Duck Dynasty clan and tell me if these photos really look 'Christian' to you.

Does 'Mrs. Duck' there have a nice Christian pose?  Do the other family members (esp. the men) display a kind, Christian demeanor?

The answer, of course, is that the woman is in a provocative pose (and outfit).  And, the men are displaying a very proud look.

Proverbs 6:17 speaks against a 'Proud Look' as being one of the 7 things that the Lord 'hates' as being an abomination to him.

Well, of course the Lord 'hates' a proud, evil, haughty look.  But the 'world' loves it!

As true Christians, we are to only judge from God's word.  Judge from the Bible therefore, the fruits of this very 'popular' show:

John 15:19 "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

Matthew 7:20-21  "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

1 Timothy 2:9-10 "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

Just because the people on this show say the name of the Lord, and seem to support Christian values, please look just a little more closely at their 'fruits'.

Their actions (dress, accumulation of riches, haughty looks, a show on worldly TV, etc.) are speaking a lot louder than their words.

Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty and First Amendment Rights

Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty and First Amendment Rights:

This 'crisis' seems perfectly tailored to not only further the LGBT 'rights' movement, but to impede the rights of Free Speech and Freedom of Religion given in the First Amendment.

The LGBT agenda is a very well-funded, and well-planned movement.

Rahm Emmanuel was noted for saying, "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

Certainly, this situation seems to be no exception.

But it seems to be even more than that: not just crisis exploitation, but crisis creation.

Is Physical Health Promised in the Bible?

12/16/2013

PictureTHERE IS "HEALING IN HIS WINGS." (Mal. 4:2)
This verse from the book of James is a very good one in addressing the "Healthy, Wealth and Prosperity" doctrine about praying for healing:

James 5:15  -
"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."

This verse states that the, "prayer of faith" (our own prayer of faith ... i.e. our own salvation prayer ... when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior) ... "shall save the sick"

(This act of faith, our prayer to accept the Lord will "save us" ... and give us everlasting life ... not "heal us" of our current ailment or sickness ... in this temporal life) ...

"And the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him" (reaffirms that this verse and our "prayer of faith" is speaking directly to our salvation and our forgiveness in Christ).

There are so many Christians who are devastated when they pray for "healing" and don't receive it .... when they just need to realize that their "prayer of faith" has already been answered in the everlasting forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Love in Christ.
