Daily Word - Corrupted Heart

11/29/2014

Picture
Throughout our lives we will face numerous challenges ... come to many crossroads ... and need to make critical choices.

The world cries out to us "follow your heart" ... "you'll know in your heart, what is right" ... but our hearts are corrupted by sin just as the rest of our flesh.

But it is God's Word ... His mercy ... His sacrifice ... His heart ... that  will direct us in truth.

Jeremiah 17:9

"
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

Daily Word - Black Friday

11/28/2014

PictureTHE FREE GIFT OF EVERLASTING LIFE... (Romans 6:23)
The bombardment of advertisements for "Black Friday" has reached a frenzy.

You can't watch or read anything recently without having some advertisement for another "blow out" sale.

But during this crazy time of year ... when everyone's rushing around for the perfect gifts ... we need to reel ourselves back in and remember that first "Black Friday" -

...Where Jesus was scourged, beaten, mocked and sacrificed himself at Calvary that we might have His free gift of everlasting life.

Isaiah 53:5

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed."

1 Peter 2:24

"Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed."

Romans 6:23

"But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Daily Word - Give Thanks

11/26/2014

Picture"GIVE THANKS..."
On the eve of this Thanksgiving Day 2014 ... no matter what joy you may have ... or what sorrows that you're enduring ...

We can all be forever thankful for our Father in heaven and Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for the grace and mercy we have received ...

Thanks be to God!

1 Chronicles 16:34

"O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endures for ever."

Daily Word - Our Imagination

11/25/2014

Picture"TRUTH IS FALLEN IN THE STREET..." (Isaiah 59:14)
Last night, when the a grand jury found that there was not enough evidence to indict the police officer for the death of Michael Brown Jr.,

I saw the streets of Ferguson, MO burning with fires lit by angry protestors and even protest and violence across several other cities.

We all have hearts that are tainted by our sinful flesh ... We all have minds and imaginations that fall prey to deception ... and when we are deceived and decide to believe in the imaginations of our own hearts ... evil can lead us astray.

Jeremiah 7:24

"But they listened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart."

Isaiah 59:14

"
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter."

Daily Word - Framed By God's Word

PictureFRAMED BY HIS WORD...
Throughout history, renown scientists like Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton and Einstein never wrestled with the theological implications of the discoveries they made in the field of science.

This is because they all believed in God and in his Word in respect to the world around them.  Yet, many scientist of old and today, make it their calling in life to prove that there is no God and the world which we know is just a gigantic cosmic accident ... which as hard as they may try, is an impossible position to defend.

Hebrews 11:3

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

Daily Word - Circumstances

PictureIN GOD'S HANDS...
All of the circumstances we face are in God's hands,

And we can be assured that even if we don't understand them

... If we are suffering through them ... or just trying to get through them ...

God understands and is faithful in His promises.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Daily Word - Perfect

PictureTHE PERFECT LOVE OF GOD...
We might see "the perfect shot" in a golf tournament ... "the perfect play" in a football game... or the "perfect place" when looking for a home to live in.

But these examples of "perfection" can't begin to capture the true meaning of this word.

There is an example of "perfect" as we read about the sacrifice of Christ for our sins in Hebrews chapter 10:

Hebrews 10:14

"For by one offering he has perfected for ever them that are sanctified."

Hebrews 10:17

"And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more."

Picture"REST IN THE LORD..." Psalm 37:7
Sometimes it can be very difficult when you have an important decision to make.

But if we wait patiently in the Lord, he will make everything clear at the right time.

Rest in Him...

Psalm 37:4-7

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.

Daily Word - Love Your Enemies

Picture"LOVE YOUR ENEMIES..." (Matthew 5:44)
Our world is filled with conflict and strife.

From wars around the world to riots and demonstrations in our nations streets, and even daily violent crimes and murders ...

The concepts of forgiveness, compassion and empathy have seemed to become archaic thoughts and words without much relativity today.

Many modern 'mottoes' echo words like "No Fear" ... "No Mercy" ... "Strike First" ... a far cry from the words of Jesus Christ to us.

Matthew 5:38-39

38 You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say to you, That you resist not evil: but whoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Matthew 5:44

"But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you."
