Daily Word - Our Life Line

4/22/2015

Picture
If I had to choose only one Biblical truth that I was allowed to hold on to ...

It would be that God loves us (His creation) and has provided the way to be with Him eternally through His son Jesus Christ.

This is our "life line" ... Jesus is all we need.

Philippians 4:19

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

As Bible-believing Christians, we know that 'The Earth is the Lord's - and Everything in It!'

Instead of 'Earth Day' - Let's Celebrate 'Happy the Earth Is The Lord's Day!'

Enjoy spreading this positive message on Earth Day and every day...

"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."

Daily Word - Short History of the KJV

4/19/2015

PictureKING JAMES I
The Authorized (AV) or King James Version (KJV) is the culmination of roughly a century of efforts by many people to give the English speaking people a Bible in their native language.

The efforts began with William Tyndale who translated the New Testament from the original Greek (1526) and portions of the Old Testament from the original Hebrew (1530s).

Thanks to people like John Rodgers, Myles Coverdale, and William Whittingham, several Bibles were produced in the 16th century.

By the end of Queen Elizabeth’s reign (1558-1603) there were two major Bibles available.

One, the Bishops’ Bible was favored by the established Church of England, and the other was the Geneva Bible favored by the Puritans.

When James came to the throne in 1603 he sponsored a conference at Hampton Court to hear some of the Puritan’s complaints against the Church of England.

The one result of the conference was a decision to revise the Bible and create a new translation.

The new translation was created by a group of forty-seven scholars who worked to revise the Bishops’ Bible and create a new version – the Bible we now call the Authorized or King James Bible.

This Bible was first published in 1611 and has undergone several minor revision over the years mainly to standardize the spelling, punctuation, and use of italics.

These italics were used to indicate words not in the Greek but required by English usage.

This Bible remains in general use today and is widely praised for the beauty of its language, and the accuracy to the original manuscripts.

It is believed by many to be God's true word in the English language.

Daily Word - Word of Christ

PictureTHE TRUTH IN THE WORD OF CHRIST...
As we begin each and every day that we're given, let's hold on tightly to the truth in the Word of Christ:

Collosians 3:16

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord "

Daily Word - God's Pleasure

4/10/2015

PictureHIS GOOD PLEASURE IS TO CHOOSE US!
We were created by God to live a life of pleasure ...

That is, a life pleasing to God, not to ourselves.

But as far back as the Garden, our enemy, the devil, has been constantly trying to deceive us ...

That we deserve to live a life of pleasure for ourselves

... and reject God and his commandments.

Yet when we give in to this lie, all we get in return is a life of death and destruction.

Ephesians 1:4-5

4 … He has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

Daily Word - Contrasting Responses

4/4/2015

PictureWHAT WILL YOUR RESPONSE BE TO JESUS CHRIST?
The account of the two thieves that were crucified along side Jesus provides us with a clear picture of two contrasting responses to Christ's sacrifice on Calvary.

The first thief without remorse or repentance demands Jesus to save himself, and them, if He is the Son of God (which obviously he doesn't believe) ...

The second thief, with a heart of repentance, simply accepts Jesus to be who He is (the Son of God) and asks Jesus to remember him in Heaven ....

Let's all respond to Jesus Christ, with humble and repentant hearts, accepting Him as our Lord and Savior.

Blessing to everyone as we remember His sacrifice for us all.

Luke 23:42-43

42 And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

43 And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, To day shall you be with me in paradise.

This Is A Very Special Good Friday: April 3, 33 AD, The Day of the Cross...

4/3/2015

PictureTHE PASSOVER RAM: HE WAS WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS
According to Christian author Rick Larson's article: "Dating the Crucifixion" the original Good Friday occurred on April 3, 33 AD.

This year, of course, Good Friday once again falls on April 3.  Below is a quote from this article:

"...With Kepler’s equations we can determine exactly when historical eclipses occurred. Perhaps it will not surprise you to learn that only one Passover lunar eclipse was visible from Jerusalem while Pilate was in office. It occurred on April 3, 33 AD, the Day of the Cross."

The Bible also tells us there was an eclipse at the crucifixion of Christ:

Luke 23:45

"And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst."

Daily Word - False Allure of the Sun

4/1/2015

Picture"THEY WORSHIPED THE SUN TOWARD THE EAST" -EZ. 8:16
We had recently been talking about "man's" constant allure to sun worship -  even now, and from the beginning of time.

It brought to mind this scripture that I had been reading just the other day in Ezekiel.8.

It describes Israel's abominations in turning away from God to worship the created instead of the Creator.

In the end, you will either worship the sun as god, or the Son of God...

Ezekiel 8:5-18

5Then said he to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes … and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry …

6
He said … even the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here … but turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations …

10
So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed on the wall round about …

13
He said also to me, Turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations that they do …

16
And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house … with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. …

18
Therefore will I also deal in fury: my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them."
