Daily Word - Hope

4/30/2023

PictureMATTHEW 19:26 KJV
In those time when everything seems to be going against us ... and all is lost ... we can hold onto knowledge that

"but with God, all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26) ... and our reflection on His faithfulness will provide us the strength through the time of trials and tribulation.

Lamentations 3:21-24

21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
24 The LORD is my portion, said my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

Daily Word - And because of all this

4/30/2023

PictureNEHEMIAH 9:38 KJV
In Nehemiah Chapter 9, it accounts the assembling of the children of Israel to confess their sins ... the iniquities of their past ... and the faithfulness of God through it all.

From the creation of heaven and earth ... through all the miracles during the 40-years of wandering through the desert ... to where they were now, the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple ... with the final line of the prayer saying,

Nehemiah 9:38

"And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal to it"

We need to follow this example in our own lives ... and look at all God has done through our lives ... and know that "because of this ...", He is our faithful, gracious and loving God that even in our disobedience, He is faithful ... even more so as Jesus now stands at our side.

Daily Word - Our refuge

4/22/2023

PicturePSALM 91:2 KJV
Ever since the fall of Adam, we have been plagued to live in a world full of evil, death and sorrow ... but not without God's grace and mercy.

Everyday we're given in life, we can be reminded that God is
there for us all ... to be our provider, our protector and our salvation... our heritage restored through Jesus Christ.

Psalm 91:2

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in
him will I trust

Psalm 91:11

For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways

Daily Word - Our faith and confidence

4/22/2023

PictureJOB 1:21 KJV
In our darkest times ... when we are facing insurmountable challenges
... we can be confident that God will provide us with the faith to trust

Him in every circumstance.  Hundreds of years before Jesus was born ...
to redeem us from the chains of sin and death ... Job was given a faith

that only comes from God, "For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he
shall stand at the latter day on the earth" Job 19:25.  Knowing what
Christ did for us at Calvary, let join together with Job in proclaiming
... "My Redeemer Lives!"

Job 1:21

Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither:
the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD

Daily Word - The Veil

4/22/2023

PictureMARK 15:38 KJV
In the gospels of Matthew and Mark, we see that at the time of Jesus'
death, the holy veil of the temple was torn in two ... from top to
bottom.  In the gospel of John, we read that Jesus' last words were ...
"It is finished".  The sacrifices were done ... the covenant of the law
was torn in two ... and a new covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ
was now given to all who would believe in Him ... forever.  Amen.

Matthew 27:51

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the
bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent

Mark 15:38

And the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom

John 19:30

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished:
and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost

Daily Word - Charity and Peace

4/22/2023

PictureCOLOSSIANS 3:14-15 KJV
It often seems that the people we are around the most ... our spouses and family ... will see the very worst side of all of us.  Whether facing the everyday pressures at work or just life in general, we often hurt the ones we love the the very most.

But if we hold fast to the grace the God has shown us ... His forgiveness ... His mercy  ... we will remain in a place of thanksgiving and we'll begin to experience that grace overflowing to everyone around us ... especially our spouse and family.

Colossians 3:14-15

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also you are called in one body; and be you thankful.

Colossians 3:19

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Ephesians 6:4

And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Daily Word - Scorn

4/15/2023

PictureJOB 16:20 KJV
In times when we're fighting through life's challenges, we may be

scorned by others or by voices in our own heads screaming out with

disdain and contempt ... "you're worthless ... you're no good ... hated

by all".  But know that these words ... or thoughts ... are from the

enemy who made those same scornful accusations as Jesus stood before the
Pharisees, Herod and Pilate ... and even then walked to the cross for
our sake, as the enemy, casting every scornful word, and even unto

stones and rocks at our Savior ... did everything he could do to try and
prevent Jesus from fulfilling His purpose ... and unto His glory forever
and ever.

Psalm 22:7

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they
shake the head...

Job 16:20

My friends scorn me: but my eye pours out tears to God.

Daily Word - A Somber Look

4/12/2023

PicturePSALM 22:1 KJV
After all the Easter egg hunts are over ... the many Easter "get-togethers" are done ... and the kids are all enjoying their Easter
goodies ... we need to take a somber look at the Crucifixion as
described in Psalm 22.

The love that Christ has for us ... the
suffering He was willing to endure for all ... this picture provides a

great perspective for when we're facing life's trials ... hardships and
tribulations. Christ will surely understand more that we can imagine
about pain and suffering ... and provides for our strength and power in
those times.

Psalm 22:1

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from
helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Psalm 22:12 - 16

Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me
round.  They gaped on me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring
lion.  I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my
heart is like wax; it is melted in the middle of my bowels.  My strength
is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue sticks to my jaws; and you
have brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the
assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Daily Work - Suffering to Glory

4/12/2023

PicturePSALM 22:14 KJV
“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.” Psalm 22:14

Did earth or heaven ever behold a sadder spectacle of woe! In soul and body, our Lord felt himself to be weak as water poured upon the ground. The placing of the cross in its socket had shaken him with great violence, had strained all the ligaments, pained every nerve, and more or less dislocated all his bones.

Burdened with his own weight, Jesus felt the strain increasing every moment of those six long hours. His sense of faintness and general weakness were overpowering; while to his own consciousness he became nothing but a mass of misery and sickness.

As we kneel before our now ascended Savior’s throne, let us remember well the way by which he prepared it as a throne of grace for us; let us in spirit drink of his cup, that we may be strengthened for our hour of heaviness whenever it may come.

Charles Spurgeon

Daily Word - The Cross

4/12/2023

Picture1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 KJV
Jesus took up the cross and gave himself up to death to free us from the
chains of sin and death ... not to free us from persecution, suffering
and sorrow ... but instead, His victory gives us His strength and power
to endure it.

Luke 14: 27

And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my
disciple.

Luke 21: 16-17

And you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brothers, and kinfolks,
and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.  And
you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake

1 Cor 10:13

There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God
is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you
may be able to bear it.
