Alcohol is often referred to as 'spirits' and for good reason.
Drinking alcohol or any fermented beverage can open you up to suggestion from all manner of malevolent spirits.
As Bible-believing Christians, we know that these spirits are demons and devils from the pit of Hell.
"And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils." Revelation 16:13-14
In the Bible, the word 'wine' is used for both fermented and unfermented juice of the grape or the 'vine'. We can discern which is being spoken of by the context.
Fermented wine and alcohol is never spoken well of in the Bible and God warns us very strongly against drinking it or even 'looking at it' in this state:
"Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright." Proverbs 23:31
The juice even of a red grape is clear, but when it has been steeped and fermented, the liquid takes on the color of the skin and becomes bubbly from fermentation - 'moving itself aright'.
Again, the Bible is completely against having anything ever to do with fermented wine and drink. Many fell as though 'social' or occasional drinking is okay, but it is not.
There is no way to know how much any alcohol is going to affect you on a day to day basis. Many factors, such as not having eaten, can cause you to become drunk before you realize it. Be not a 'drunkard':
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

Below is a Warning as to Why Drinking Alcohol Can Cause Alcoholism:
You ARE an alcoholic if you drink even any amount, especially on a regular basis and with no conviction in your heart whatsoever.
The habitual drinking of alcohol changes you, in subtle ways that are nonetheless very profound.
The ‘social drinker’ is a myth. You may not (yet) be a stumbling drunk, but you have alcohol at the ready in your cabinet and refrigerator don’t you.
You aren’t just drinking when you’re out somewhere ‘socially’ at a restaurant. a party or someone else’s house.
These are bad enough, but it is in your home where it will have a stealthy effect not only on yourself but also your children.
The message is that alcohol is okay. You must be very careful what you get your children – and yourself – used to as being ‘nothing’.
Next time they’re at a party or out with friends and are offered alcohol, it won’t seem that bad or even unusual to them.
You have robbed them of that natural, God-given catch in their spirit against such things. You have now opened the door, a door that’s hard to shut.
Even if you don’t have children, it’s still not okay for you to do these things because you will become a creature of the (bad) habits you practice.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
