"There shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Matthew 24:7
We certainly are seeing a lot of these things. Jesus also said that when you see these things, the end is not yet and to not be troubled, but that it is the beginning of sorrows:
"See that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24:6-8
Other signs of our Lord's coming also seem to be in play right now, such as potential betrayal by friends and neighbors in the form of reporting on another for not following COVID orders as well as hatred, deception and iniquity:
"And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends;" Luke 21:16
"And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Matthew 24:10-12
One of the worst of all is that the current COVID 'crisis' measures have caused many to lose their jobs and also to create an actual food supply crisis that could lead to food shortages and 'famine':
"And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." Luke 21:1
There are indeed many 'fearful sights' upon us, but our Lord comforts us with these words:
"So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand." Luke 21:31
